Job description
A large and well-regarded secondary school in Manchester is seeking a proactive and compassionate Attendance & Education Welfare Officer to strengthen its pastoral and safeguarding provision. This is a vital role within a school that places student wellbeing, engagement and academic consistency at the centre of its improvement strategy. The school serves a diverse and vibrant community and has worked hard to embed clear behaviour and attendance systems. The Attendance & Education Welfare Officer will play a key role in ensuring students are present, supported and ready to learn. The Role You will work closely with senior leaders, pastoral teams and families to monitor, improve and sustain high attendance levels across the school. Key responsibilities include: • Monitoring daily attendance data and identifying trends • Conducting first-day absence calls and follow-up communications • Meeting with students and families to address attendance concerns • Coordinating attendance panels and formal interventions • Liaising with external agencies where required • Maintaining accurate records in line with safeguarding protocols You will use attendance systems and MIS software to track progress and produce reports for senior leadership.
