Job description
A well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Design & Technology (DT) Teacher to join their DT department ASAP . This is a full-time, permanent role teaching across KS3–KS5 , delivering both practical and theoretical lessons in a supportive, high-performing environment. DT Teacher – full-time, permanent Secondary school in Portsmouth Start date: ASAP MPS/UPS salary About the Role The DT Teacher will inspire students to develop technical skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. You will teach a range of Design & Technology areas, including product design, resistant materials, graphics, or engineering principles , according to your expertise. Key responsibilities include: Plan and deliver high-quality DT lessons across KS3–KS5. Prepare students for GCSE and A Level examinations. Monitor and track student progress, implementing interventions where needed. Contribute to departmental curriculum planning, resources, and assessment strategies. Lead and supervise practical workshop sessions, ensuring Health & Safety compliance. Support enrichment activities, including DT clubs, competitions, and STEM initiatives. Encourage creativity, innovation, and problem-solving in all lessons. Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and develop cross-curricular projects. Candidate Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification. Degree in Design & Technology, Product Design, Engineering, or related discipline. Strong subject knowledge and practical expertise in multiple DT areas. Excellent classroom management and organisational skills. Ability to plan differentiated lessons to meet the needs of all learners. Passion for practical learning, creativity, and student achievement.
