Job description
Librarian – Outstanding Secondary School – Durham (North East England) Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Librarian to join an Outstanding secondary school in Durham. This is a key role supporting literacy, independent learning and student academic development across the school. The successful candidate will manage the library as a central learning hub, ensuring it is an engaging and well-resourced environment. You will support students in developing reading habits, research skills and independent study techniques, working closely with staff to enhance curriculum delivery. This role requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication and a passion for education. School Information: This is an 11 to 18 well-established, Outstanding Ofsted Rated School with a strong commitment to high standards, student wellbeing and continuous improvement. The school serves a diverse community and promotes a supportive and inclusive ethos. Students are respectful and motivated to succeed. The library is central to the school’s academic success, supporting literacy and independent learning. Staff benefit from strong leadership and a collaborative professional culture. Key Responsibilities: • Manage library resources and systems • Promote reading and literacy initiatives • Support student research and study skills • Organise enrichment activities and events • Maintain an engaging library environment • Collaborate with teaching staff Requirements: • Library or school experience • Strong organisational skills • Excellent communication skills • IT proficiency • Passion for literacy and education • Ability to engage students Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible
