Job description
Finance Assistant – Fantastic Secondary School – Cheltenham Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale We are looking to appoint a reliable and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join a well-resourced secondary school in Cheltenham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong financial and administrative skills to support the effective management of school finances. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day financial operations, ensuring that transactions are processed accurately and that records are maintained to a high standard. You will work closely with the School Business Manager and finance team to support budgeting, reporting and financial compliance. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to work with confidential information. You will need to be confident using financial systems and communicating with a range of stakeholders. School Information: This is an 11 to 18 well-established, Good Ofsted Rated School in Cheltenham with a strong commitment to high standards, student wellbeing and continuous improvement. The school serves a diverse community and is known for its supportive ethos, where positive relationships and high expectations underpin daily practice. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum and places strong emphasis on professional development for staff. The finance team is an integral part of the school’s operations, ensuring resources are managed effectively. Key Responsibilities: • Process invoices, payments and financial transactions • Maintain accurate financial records • Support budgeting and reporting • Liaise with suppliers and staff • Assist with procurement processes • Ensure compliance with financial procedures Requirements: • Experience in a finance or administrative role • Strong numerical skills • Excellent attention to detail • Good IT skills, including Excel • Ability to manage workload effectively • Experience in a school setting (desirable) Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible
