Job description
Librarian – Outstanding Secondary School – Kensington and Chelsea Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Librarian to join an Outstanding secondary school in Kensington and Chelsea. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about reading, literacy and supporting students in developing independent learning skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the school library, ensuring it is a welcoming, well-organised and inspiring space. You will work closely with staff and students to promote reading, support literacy initiatives and provide access to high-quality learning resources. This role requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication and the ability to engage students positively. You will play a key role in fostering a culture of reading across the school. School Information: This is an 11 to 18 well-established, Outstanding Ofsted Rated School in Kensington and Chelsea with a strong commitment to high standards, student wellbeing and continuous improvement. The school serves a diverse and high-achieving community and is known for its supportive ethos, where positive relationships and high expectations underpin daily practice. Students are respectful, motivated and eager to succeed, creating a calm and purposeful learning environment. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum and places a strong emphasis on literacy and independent learning. The library is a central hub of the school, supporting both academic study and reading for pleasure. Key Responsibilities: • Manage and organise library resources • Promote reading and literacy initiatives • Support students with research and study skills • Maintain library systems and catalogues • Organise reading events and programmes • Work collaboratively with staff Requirements: • Experience working in a library or educational setting • Strong organisational skills • Passion for reading and literacy • Excellent communication skills • Ability to engage students • Good IT skills Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible
