Job description
A highly regarded independent school in Guildford is seeking an organised, meticulous and proactive Exams Officer to join its professional administrative team. The Exams Officer plays a vital role in helping the school deliver a successful examination process, ensuring pupils, staff and families are supported clearly and professionally at every stage. About the Role As Exams Officer , you will lead the administration and coordination of the school’s examination processes, working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, invigilators, pupils and examination boards. You will help ensure all aspects of the exams cycle are well organised, compliant and delivered with precision. Key responsibilities will include: Managing the full examination cycle for internal and external assessments Liaising with awarding bodies and ensuring compliance with current regulations and deadlines Coordinating exam entries, amendments and candidate information accurately and efficiently Producing exam timetables and related communication for pupils, staff and families Organising exam rooms, seating plans, access arrangements and invigilation Supporting the secure handling of confidential exam materials and scripts Working closely with SEND and pastoral teams to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place Managing results days processes, post-results services and related administration This is a role that requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm and solution-focused during busy and high-stakes periods. The Exams Officer works closely with colleagues across academic, pastoral and administrative functions, and plays a central role in ensuring key school processes run smoothly. Key Information Location: Guildford Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement) Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience What the School is Looking For The successful candidate will ideally have: Experience in examinations administration, school administration or a similarly detailed operational role Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage deadlines accurately Strong communication skills and a professional, calm manner Confidence using IT systems, including spreadsheets, management information systems and database-style platforms Understanding of confidentiality, compliance and professional boundaries The ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively and maintain accuracy School-based experience is highly desirable, although candidates with relevant transferable experience in regulated or highly administrative environments will also be considered.
