Job description
Location: Eastbourne Contract: Full-Time, Permanent/Long-term Start Date: ASAP Are you an analytical thinker with a passion for global markets, fiscal policy, and the shifting dynamics of the 2026 economy? We are seeking an intellectually curious Economics Teacher to join a high-achieving Social Sciences department in Eastbourne . This school boasts a strong academic reputation and a highly motivated Sixth Form, making it the ideal setting for a specialist who can deconstruct complex global issues—from inflationary pressures to the economics of climate change—and make them accessible to aspiring professionals. The Role As an Economics Teacher, your primary focus will be delivering the A-Level Economics curriculum (AQA or Edexcel), with the opportunity to contribute to GCSE Business or Level 3 Vocational courses. You will join a faculty that prioritizes critical thinking and data-driven analysis. Key Responsibilities: Macro & Micro Mastery: Delivering expert lessons on market failure, government intervention, aggregate demand/supply, and international trade. Quantitative Skills: Guiding students through the mathematical requirements of the course, including elasticity calculations, index numbers, and data interpretation. Current Affairs Integration: Using real-time 2026 economic data and global headlines to provide context for theoretical models. Exam Technique: Developing students' ability to write high-scoring evaluative essays that balance theoretical knowledge with contemporary evidence. Why Join This School? Coastal Quality of Life: Work in Eastbourne, a town known for its stunning coastline, sunshine hours, and a supportive local community. Dedicated Sixth Form Centre: Teach in a specialized environment tailored to post-16 learners, featuring university-style seminar rooms and study hubs. Research-Led Faculty: Join a team of specialists who engage with the latest pedagogical research to reduce workload while maximizing student impact. Bespoke CPD: Access to external examiner training and subject-specific conferences to stay at the forefront of the A-Level specification. About You We are looking for an educator who can bridge the gap between abstract graphs and the "real world" with clarity and wit. The Ideal Candidate: Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a relevant degree in Economics, Finance, or PPE (Philosophy, Politics, and Economics). Has a proven track record of helping students achieve high grades at Key Stage 5. Possesses excellent communication skills and the ability to challenge high-prior-attainment students. Is passionate about promoting economic literacy and social mobility. How to Apply To apply for this position, please submit your CV today.
