Job description
Who will I work with? You will be the cornerstone of the school’s administration, working closely with the headteacher, leadership team, and office staff. As School Business Manager, you will oversee financial, operational, and administrative processes, ensuring the school runs efficiently from the ground up. What does the role involve? Your responsibilities are broad and impactful. You will: Manage the school’s finances, including budgeting, reporting, and monitoring expenditures Oversee payroll, invoices, and procurement processes Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements Support facilities management and health & safety compliance Lead a small administrative team, providing guidance and supervision What kind of person are we looking for? We need someone confident, highly organised, and proactive. Previous experience in school administration or business management is desirable, but your ability to problem-solve, lead a team, and communicate effectively is essential. You should be numerate, professional, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Why is this role important? The School Business Manager ensures that leadership, teachers, and support staff can focus on delivering an outstanding education. Your work enables strategic planning, smooth day-to-day operations, and the efficient use of school resources. In short, you help the school thrive. What will a typical day look like? Morning: Review finances, respond to staff queries, and coordinate supplier communications Midday: Team supervision, project management, and preparation of reports for leadership Afternoon: Oversee facilities checks, monitor compliance, and plan upcoming budget reviews About the School This outstanding all-through school in Cambridge is committed to excellence in education from primary through secondary levels.
