Job description
A well-regarded secondary school in Enfield (North London) is seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Finance Officer to join its supportive business and administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong finance and admin skills who enjoys working with systems, deadlines and accuracy — and who wants to play a key role in ensuring a school runs smoothly and responsibly. About the Role As Finance Officer , you will support the school’s financial processes, ensuring transactions are accurate, records are up to date and systems are compliant. Working closely with the School Business Manager and wider admin team, you will help ensure the school’s financial operations are efficient and well organised. Key responsibilities will typically include: Processing purchase orders, invoices and supplier payments accurately and on time Maintaining financial records and ensuring documentation is filed correctly for audit purposes Supporting budget monitoring and producing routine finance reports as required Managing income processing, including trips, payments and other school income streams Liaising with suppliers and resolving queries professionally and efficiently Supporting procurement processes and ensuring value-for-money procedures are followed Supporting payroll/HR admin tasks where appropriate (depending on structure) Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information securely This role suits someone who is methodical, calm under pressure and proud of getting the detail right. The Business Team You will join a supportive and professional business team where systems and communication are strong. The finance function works closely with school leaders and admin colleagues to ensure resources are managed effectively and the school remains well organised and compliant. You’ll be supported with clear processes and training where needed, and your work will be valued as essential to the school’s daily success. Key Information Location: Enfield, London Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement) Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience What the School is Looking For The successful candidate will ideally have: Experience in finance administration, accounts, purchasing or a similar role Strong attention to detail and confidence working with financial systems and spreadsheets Excellent organisation and ability to manage deadlines consistently Professional communication skills when liaising with colleagues and suppliers Understanding of confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive information A willingness to learn school systems and processes quickly School-based finance experience is desirable but not essential for a strong candidate with transferable experience.
