Job description
A dependable and proactive Site Assistant is required at a well-established independent secondary school in Havering to join the facilities team immediately. This is a full-time, permanent position , ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, maintaining school facilities, and supporting the smooth running of a busy school environment. The Site Assistant supports the Site Manager in maintaining the school buildings, grounds, and equipment, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-organised environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. About the Role The successful candidate will provide essential support for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the school site. You will assist with facilities management, routine maintenance, and general upkeep, ensuring that the school remains a safe and welcoming environment. Key responsibilities include: Supporting the Site Manager with maintenance, cleaning, and organisation of school buildings and grounds Assisting with the setup of rooms, halls, and outdoor areas for lessons, events, and functions Performing routine checks and minor repairs to ensure the site is safe and functional Supporting waste management, recycling, and the upkeep of communal areas Responding promptly to any urgent maintenance or safety issues Assisting with health and safety compliance, including fire checks, alarms, and equipment inspections Ensuring that the school site is secure and presentable at all times Experience and Skills The successful candidate will: Have experience in a site, caretaker, or facilities support role, ideally in a school or similar environment Be practical, reliable, and able to carry out minor maintenance tasks Demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively Be aware of health and safety regulations and procedures Be proactive, flexible, and responsive to site needs Work collaboratively as part of a facilities team Be committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment Why Join This School Independent secondary school with strong academic and pastoral reputation Professional and collaborative facilities team Opportunity to contribute to a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment Supportive leadership and positive working culture Varied role with hands-on impact on school operations Salary Competitive, dependent on experience.
