Job description
A forward-thinking secondary school in Romford is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Data Officer to join its administrative and leadership support team immediately. This is a full-time, permanent position , ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to supporting accurate data management within a busy school environment. The Data Officer plays a critical role in ensuring data is accurate, up to date, and accessible to staff who rely on it for teaching, assessment, and school planning purposes. About the Role The successful candidate will manage and maintain pupil, staff, and school data, providing support to senior leaders, teaching staff, and administrative teams. You will ensure that data systems operate efficiently, provide accurate reporting, and contribute to the smooth running of school processes. This is a varied role requiring accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively. Key responsibilities include: Managing and maintaining accurate school data, including pupil records, attendance, and assessment information Producing reports and analysis to support senior leaders, governors, and teaching staff Supporting examination and assessment data processing Ensuring compliance with GDPR and school data protection policies Liaising with staff, parents, and external agencies regarding data matters Supporting administrative and operational systems to improve efficiency and accuracy Assisting with audits and inspections where data accuracy is required Providing training or guidance to staff on school data systems as necessary Experience and Skills The successful candidate will: Have previous experience in data management, preferably within an educational setting Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail Demonstrate strong IT skills, including experience with databases, spreadsheets, and reporting software Be able to produce accurate reports and analysis for staff and leadership Understand data protection and confidentiality requirements Be proactive, reliable, and able to manage competing priorities Work effectively independently and collaboratively within a team Why Join This School Well-regarded secondary school with supportive leadership Opportunity to contribute to data-driven decision-making Collaborative and professional administrative environment Exposure to a wide range of school operations and processes Positive, inclusive, and supportive workplace Salary Competitive, dependent on experience.
