Job description

A well-regarded secondary school in Shropshire is seeking an efficient, organised and proactive Administrative Assistant to join its supportive admin team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being part of a busy office, takes pride in high standards and understands the importance of calm, accurate administration in supporting pupils, staff and families. The admin team plays a central role in ensuring communication, systems and day-to-day organisation run smoothly. About the Role As Administrative Assistant , you will provide essential support to the school office, helping to ensure systems are consistent, records are accurate and staff and families receive a professional service. Responsibilities may include: Managing telephone calls, emails and enquiries with professionalism and discretion Supporting general office administration: filing, scanning, correspondence, data entry and record keeping Assisting with attendance-related admin and daily pupil information as required Producing letters, documents and reports to a high standard Updating school systems accurately (training provided where needed) Supporting safeguarding routines, including visitor processes and secure information handling Helping coordinate meetings, events and day-to-day admin deadlines This role suits someone who can prioritise, work calmly under pressure and maintain excellent attention to detail. The Office Team You will join a friendly and collaborative admin team that supports the daily running of the school. The office is a key hub of the school community, and the team works closely with pastoral leaders and senior staff to ensure routines are consistent and communication with families is clear. Key Information Location: Shropshire Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement) Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience What the School is Looking For The successful candidate will ideally have: Experience in administration, office support or a similar busy environment Excellent communication skills and a professional, approachable manner Strong organisation and attention to detail Confidence using IT systems (email, Word/Google Docs, spreadsheets, databases) Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding in a school setting School-based admin experience and familiarity with MIS systems (e.g., SIMS/Arbor) is desirable but not essential for strong candidates with transferable skills.
