Job description
A well-respected Good secondary school in Wolverhampton is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Design Technology Teacher to join its creative and forward-thinking department from September . This is a full-time, permanent position , ideal for a teacher who is passionate about practical learning and committed to helping pupils develop technical skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. About the Role The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 for candidates with relevant experience. The role involves delivering engaging practical lessons that develop pupils’ design, planning, and manufacturing skills. Key responsibilities include: Teaching Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5) Planning and delivering engaging lessons that include hands-on practical work Supporting pupils in developing creative design and technical skills Monitoring and assessing pupil progress through regular feedback Preparing pupils for GCSE and/or A-Level coursework and examinations Maintaining workshop safety and ensuring health and safety compliance Contributing to curriculum planning and development Supporting extracurricular activities such as design clubs or project competitions Experience and Skills The successful candidate will: Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification Have strong subject knowledge in Design Technology Be confident delivering practical workshop-based lessons Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills Have a good understanding of workshop safety procedures Be organised, proactive, and committed to high standards Work effectively as part of a collaborative department Why Join This School Good secondary school with supportive leadership Well-equipped workshops and DT facilities Collaborative and creative department Opportunities for professional development Positive school culture with engaged pupils Salary Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications.
