Job description
We are seeking a professional, friendly, and highly organised School Receptionist to join a good-rated primary school in Walsall. This is a vital front-of-house role, providing a welcoming first point of contact for parents, visitors, and staff while supporting the school’s administrative functions. The successful candidate will be approachable, efficient, and able to manage a wide range of responsibilities in a busy school environment. Role Overview: As School Receptionist, you will be responsible for managing the school’s reception area and providing general administrative support. Your work ensures that the school maintains a professional, organised, and welcoming environment. You will liaise with parents, staff, and external agencies, handling enquiries efficiently and in line with school policies. Key Responsibilities: Greet and assist visitors, parents, and staff in a professional and friendly manner. Answer telephone calls, respond to emails, and manage general enquiries promptly. Maintain an organised, safe, and welcoming reception area. Monitor student attendance and assist with signing in/out procedures. Support administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, scanning, and data entry. Assist with organising school events, meetings, and communications. Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies. Liaise with external agencies, suppliers, and other stakeholders as required. Skills and Experience: Previous experience in reception, administration, or customer service, ideally within a school. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and approachable manner. Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general office systems. Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection requirements.
