School Business Manager – Strategic Outstanding Secondary School – Reading, Berkshire Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience School Overview This is an Outstanding Ofsted-rated 11–18 secondary school in Reading, Berkshire, recognised for its strong academic outcomes, exceptional leadership, and commitment to continuous improvement. The Role The school is seeking an experienced and strategic School Business Manager (SBM) to lead on the operational and financial management of the school. This is a senior leadership role, working closely with the Headteacher and governing body to ensure the effective use of resources and the smooth running of all non-teaching functions. Key Responsibilities Lead on financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation Oversee HR, premises, health and safety, and administrative functions Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements Manage contracts, procurement, and service-level agreements Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and governors Monitor and report on financial performance and efficiency Line manage support staff teams What We Are Looking For Significant experience in school or organisational management Strong financial management and strategic planning skills Excellent leadership and communication abilities Knowledge of education sector regulations and compliance Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively Commitment to supporting school improvement Why Join This School?
