Job description
A well-regarded secondary school in Oxford is seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Exams Officer to join its supportive administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced exams professional—or a strong administrator ready to specialise—who understands the importance of accuracy, compliance and calm organisation during busy exam periods. Exams administration is managed carefully to ensure students are fully supported and that processes are compliant, efficient and well communicated. About the Role As Exams Officer , you will take responsibility for the planning, administration and delivery of internal and external examinations, ensuring all processes meet awarding body and JCQ requirements. Key responsibilities will include: Managing the full exam cycle, including entries, timetables, access arrangements coordination and results days Liaising with exam boards and ensuring compliance with regulations and deadlines Coordinating the running of mock exams and internal assessments Managing exam-day logistics including rooming, seating plans, timetables and candidate information Recruiting, training and deploying invigilators and ensuring exam sessions run smoothly Maintaining accurate records and communicating key information to staff, students and parents Supporting post-results processes such as reviews of marking, access to scripts and appeals This role requires excellent organisation, strong attention to detail and the confidence to manage multiple deadlines calmly and accurately. The Team You will work closely with senior leaders, SEND staff, heads of year and the wider admin team to ensure exams processes run smoothly and students feel well supported. Key Information Location: Oxford Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement) Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Experience and Skills The successful candidate will ideally have: Experience as an Exams Officer or within exams administration (school or college) Strong working knowledge of exam processes and regulations (JCQ and awarding body requirements) Excellent organisation and the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities High attention to detail and confidence handling sensitive data Strong communication skills and the ability to work with staff, students and parents Confidence using IT systems, including spreadsheets and database-style systems Experience with access arrangements processes and exam management software is desirable, but training can be provided for a candidate with strong transferable skills.
