Job description
A well-regarded secondary school in Barnet is seeking an experienced, organised and proactive School Office Manager to lead the day-to-day running of a busy school office. The School Office Manager plays a central role in ensuring communication, organisation and administrative processes run smoothly across the school. About the Role As School Office Manager , you will oversee the effective operation of the school office, ensuring systems are efficient, communication is consistent and support for staff, pupils and families is of the highest standard. You will work closely with senior leaders and line manage office staff where appropriate. Key responsibilities will include: Managing the daily running of the school office and ensuring high standards of service Coordinating office systems, workflows and priorities to support smooth day-to-day operations Line managing and supporting administrative staff, ensuring clear responsibilities and consistency Acting as a key point of contact for parents, visitors and external agencies Overseeing communication, correspondence and record keeping with excellent attention to detail Supporting safeguarding processes, including visitor management and secure record procedures Assisting with event organisation, meetings and key administrative deadlines Supporting finance-related administration and ordering processes where required This role requires strong organisation, discretion and the confidence to manage a busy workload while maintaining calm professionalism. The Team You will lead a professional and supportive office team that plays a vital role in the daily life of the school. Staff work collaboratively to support senior leaders, teaching staff, students and families, and the school values teamwork, strong communication and a positive, solution-focused approach. The School Office Manager helps ensure that systems are efficient, expectations are clear and the office remains a welcoming, well-run hub of the school. Key Information Location: Barnet, London Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement) Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience What the School is Looking For The successful candidate will ideally have: Significant experience in school administration, office management or a similar leadership role Excellent organisation and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Strong communication skills and a professional, welcoming manner Experience leading or supervising staff Confidence using IT systems, including spreadsheets and database-style systems Strong understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and professional boundaries A proactive, solution-focused approach and excellent attention to detail Experience in a school setting is highly desirable, although strong candidates from other professional administrative backgrounds may also be considered.
