Job description
Ofsted Rated Good School Reading, Berkshire Full-Time | Permanent Start: September 2026 Salary: MPS (ECT Scale) Leading ECT Support Programme! Are you a creative and passionate Early Career Teacher of Drama, ready to inspire confidence, creativity and self-expression in young people? A well-regarded secondary school in Reading, rated Good by Ofsted, is seeking an enthusiastic Drama Teacher (ECT) to join its vibrant and supportive Performing Arts department from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to begin your teaching career in a school that values creativity, collaboration and high-quality teaching. You will benefit from a structured ECT induction programme, with dedicated mentoring and professional development to support your growth as a teacher. The Role The successful candidate will: Teach Drama across Key Stages 3 and 4 Plan and deliver engaging, practical and theory-based Drama lessons Inspire students to develop confidence, creativity and performance skills Support students of all abilities through inclusive and differentiated teaching Prepare students for GCSE Drama performances and written assessments Contribute to the development of schemes of work and departmental resources Lead or support extracurricular activities such as school productions, drama clubs or performances Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback Play an active role in the pastoral life of the school, including form tutoring The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a candidate who: Holds (or is working towards) Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Has a degree in Drama, Performing Arts or a related subject Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and a passion for Drama Is eager to develop their teaching practice as an Early Career Teacher Has high expectations for student achievement and behaviour Is reflective, creative and committed to ongoing professional development Works well as part of a collaborative and supportive team About the School This Ofsted-rated Good secondary school in Reading offers: A positive and inclusive learning environment Supportive leadership focused on staff wellbeing and development A strong Performing Arts department with opportunities for collaboration A well-structured ECT induction and mentoring programme A wide range of enrichment opportunities, including productions and events What We Offer MPS salary (ECT scale) A comprehensive ECT induction programme with dedicated mentor support High-quality CPD and career development opportunities A supportive and welcoming staff community Opportunities to contribute to school productions and wider school life How to Apply Please submit your CV along with a brief supporting statement outlining your interest in the role, subject expertise and suitability for the position.
