Job description
A welcoming Good primary school in Bolton is seeking a reliable and hardworking School Caretaker to join its site team with an ASAP start . This is a full-time, permanent position , ideal for someone with practical maintenance skills who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented school environment. About the School This Good-rated primary school in Bolton is known for its supportive leadership, inclusive culture, and strong focus on pupil wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to ensure that the school remains a safe, positive, and well-maintained place for pupils to learn and grow. The caretaker plays a vital role in ensuring that the school buildings and grounds remain secure, functional, and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors. About the Role The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day maintenance and security of the school site. You will ensure that the premises remain safe and well-maintained while responding promptly to maintenance needs and operational requirements. Key responsibilities include: Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs across the school site Ensuring the buildings and grounds are clean, safe, and secure Opening and closing the school site each day Monitoring heating, lighting, and other building systems Supporting health and safety procedures, including fire safety checks Assisting with the setup of classrooms, halls, and spaces for school events Liaising with contractors and external service providers when required Reporting maintenance issues to the school leadership team Experience and Skills The successful candidate will: Have experience in caretaking, maintenance, or facilities support Be confident using basic tools and equipment safely Demonstrate strong reliability and practical problem-solving skills Have a good understanding of health and safety procedures Be able to work independently and manage tasks effectively Possess good communication and teamwork skills Why Join This School Good primary school with a supportive leadership team Friendly and collaborative working environment Opportunity to play an important role in the daily life of the school Stable and well-organised working environment Salary Competitive, depending on experience.
