Media Technician – Innovative Secondary School – Hackney, London Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale (support staff scale depending on experience) School Information This opportunity is based in an Outstanding 11–18 secondary school in the London Borough of Hackney . Role Overview The school is seeking a skilled and proactive Media Technician to support the delivery of media and creative technology across the school. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to prepare equipment, maintain media facilities and assist students during practical sessions. This role is ideal for someone who has strong technical skills and enjoys supporting creative learning. The Media Technician will play an important role in ensuring that equipment and resources remain organised, functional and ready for use. Key Responsibilities • Maintain and organise media equipment and resources • Support teachers during practical media lessons • Assist students with the safe and effective use of equipment • Manage camera, lighting and sound equipment inventories • Maintain editing suites and digital media workstations • Provide technical support for media projects and coursework • Assist with recording and editing school productions or events • Ensure equipment is stored safely and maintained properly • Support creative departments with media production needs • Coordinate equipment bookings and availability • Assist with installation of media setups for performances or presentations • Ensure media facilities remain organised and functional Candidate Profile The school is looking for someone who is technically capable and enthusiastic about supporting creative education. The ideal candidate will demonstrate: • Experience working with media equipment such as cameras, lighting and sound systems • Knowledge of digital editing software (such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut) • Strong organisational skills • Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues • Experience supporting practical creative environments • Strong communication skills when assisting students and staff • Ability to work efficiently in a busy school environment • Interest in media production or digital arts • Positive and collaborative attitude Experience in a school or educational setting is desirable but not essential.
