Job description
School Caretaker | Ipswich, Suffolk Lead the site maintenance in a thriving East Anglian school. A welcoming and modern secondary school in Ipswich is looking for a School Caretaker . This role is perfect for a professional who loves the variety of a school environment and wants to make a tangible difference in how the school functions day-to-day. The Snapshot Location: Ipswich (Convenient for A12 and A14 commuters) Salary: £23,500 – £26,500 (Suffolk County Council Grade) Contract: Permanent, Full-time Requirement: A valid driving license is preferred for moving equipment between local sites if necessary. Detailed Responsibilities Asset Maintenance: Maintaining the school's tools and machinery, ensuring they are serviced and used safely in accordance with COSHH. Site Inspections: Walking the site daily to identify potential hazards or maintenance requirements, reporting major issues to the Site Manager. Event Setup: Preparing the main hall and classrooms for exams, parents' evenings, and school productions, including moving heavy seating and staging. Winter Readiness: Taking responsibility for salting and gritting paths during freezing weather to ensure the school remains open and safe.
