Job description
A well-regarded secondary academy in Northampton is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher of Maths to join its committed Mathematics department. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about building confidence, improving outcomes and helping students develop strong mathematical thinking. About the Role As Teacher of Maths , you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 , with the potential to contribute to KS5 depending on experience and timetable. You will deliver a well-sequenced curriculum that develops: Fluency and accuracy in core mathematical skills Reasoning through structured questioning and clear explanation Problem-solving through guided practice and gradually increased challenge Exam confidence through modelling, deliberate practice and precise feedback You will support learners with a range of starting points, using effective scaffolding where needed while providing stretch and challenge for high attainers. The Maths Department The Mathematics department is supportive and well-organised, with a shared commitment to strong outcomes. Teachers collaborate closely on planning, share resources and use consistent approaches to assessment to ensure students make strong progress. The department values: Clear modelling and high-quality explanation Consistent routines and high expectations for effort and presentation Regular retrieval and checks for understanding Targeted intervention and well-planned revision support at GCSE Staff are supported through coaching, shared planning and opportunities to develop practice. Key Information Location: Northampton Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement) Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed) Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience) Experience and Qualifications The successful candidate will: Hold QTS (or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification) Have strong subject knowledge in Mathematics Deliver well-structured lessons with clear routines and high expectations Use assessment effectively to identify gaps and secure progress Build positive relationships and maintain a calm, purposeful classroom culture Work collaboratively within a supportive Maths team Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and ECTs .
