Job description

Are you an organised and detail-focused professional with strong administrative skills? A respected Independent secondary school in Guildford is seeking an experienced and reliable Exams Officer to join its administrative team. This is a full-time, permanent position starting ASAP and offers an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting pupils’ academic success through the effective coordination of examinations. About the Role As Exams Officer, you will oversee the planning, organisation, and administration of all internal and external examinations. You will ensure that the school complies fully with awarding body regulations and that all exams are conducted efficiently, securely, and fairly. Key responsibilities include: Managing the full examinations cycle, including entries, registrations, and results processing Liaising with exam boards to ensure compliance with regulations and deadlines Producing examination timetables and coordinating exam room arrangements Recruiting, training, and organising exam invigilators Ensuring exam papers and confidential materials are handled securely Maintaining accurate records of candidate entries and results Supporting staff and pupils with examination queries and procedures Managing post-results services such as reviews, remarks, and appeals Experience and Skills The successful candidate will: Have previous experience as an Exams Officer or in a similar administrative role Demonstrate exceptional organisational and time-management skills Have excellent attention to detail and accuracy when managing sensitive data Be confident using IT systems, spreadsheets, and databases Possess strong communication skills when working with staff, pupils, and external organisations Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Experience working within a school environment and familiarity with exam board processes would be highly beneficial.
