Job description

A welcoming and community-focused primary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking an organised, proactive and experienced School Office Manager to lead the day-to-day running of the school office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled administrator to take on a key operational role, supporting senior leaders, staff, families and pupils through strong systems, clear communication and professional leadership of the admin function. The school serves a diverse local community and is known for its warm ethos, clear routines and commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing. The office team plays a vital role in ensuring the school runs smoothly, and the Office Manager is central to that success. The Role As School Office Manager , you will oversee the smooth and efficient operation of the school office, ensuring administrative systems support the best possible outcomes for pupils and staff. Key responsibilities will include: Managing and developing office systems, workflows and day-to-day priorities Line managing administrative staff and coordinating responsibilities across the office team Acting as a key point of contact for parents, visitors and external agencies Supporting attendance administration and communication with families Maintaining accurate pupil records and supporting data processes where required Overseeing ordering, finance-related admin tasks and general office budgets (where applicable) Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed, including visitor management and record-keeping Supporting senior leaders with communications, reports and organisation of key events This role requires strong organisation, excellent people skills and the confidence to manage a busy workload while maintaining high standards and a calm, welcoming environment. The Team You will lead a supportive admin team and work closely with the Headteacher and senior leaders to ensure the school’s operational systems are well managed. The successful candidate will bring a solution-focused approach, supporting colleagues, improving systems where needed and ensuring that the office remains a welcoming, efficient hub of the school. What the School is Looking For The successful candidate will: Have strong experience in school administration, office management or a similar role Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities Be confident leading and supporting a small team Have strong communication skills and a professional, welcoming manner Be confident using IT systems, including office software and school database systems Understand the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding and accurate record-keeping Be proactive, calm under pressure and committed to providing an excellent service Experience in a primary school environment is welcomed but not essential for the right candidate with strong administrative leadership experience.
