Job description
A well-regarded secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a friendly, professional, and organised School Receptionist to join their front office team ASAP . This is a full-time, permanent role providing the first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and visitors, ensuring the school environment is welcoming and well-managed. School Receptionist – full-time, permanent Secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne Start date: ASAP Competitive support staff salary About the Role The School Receptionist will manage the front desk, provide administrative support, and ensure smooth daily operations. This role is central to maintaining an efficient, safe, and welcoming environment for the school community. Key responsibilities include: Greeting and assisting students, parents, visitors, and staff in a professional and friendly manner. Managing telephone calls, emails, and correspondence, responding promptly or directing queries appropriately. Monitoring school entrances and visitor access, maintaining security procedures. Recording and monitoring attendance and signing in visitors as required. Performing general administrative duties including filing, photocopying, and document preparation. Supporting school office functions, including maintaining records and databases. Assisting with day-to-day operational tasks, such as coordinating deliveries, managing post, and ordering supplies. Liaising with staff, leadership, and external contacts to ensure effective communication. Providing ad-hoc administrative support as requested by the office team. Candidate Requirements The school is seeking a professional, organised, and approachable individual with excellent communication skills. Applicants should have: Previous experience in reception, administration, or customer service, ideally in a school setting. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Professional, polite, and approachable manner. Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities efficiently. Reliability, initiative, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
