Job description
Title - Nature Engagement Manager Salary - £39,525 - £44,000 Contract duration: 12-months FTC Location - London About CDP CDP is a global non-profit that runs the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system. As the founder of environmental reporting, we believe in transparency and the power of data to drive change. Partnering with leaders in enterprise, capital, policy and science, we surface the information needed to enable Earth-positive decisions. We helped more than 24,800 companies and almost 1,000 cities, states and regions disclose their environmental impacts in 2024. Financial institutions with more than a quarter of the world’s institutional assets use CDP data to help inform investment and lending decisions. Our team is truly global, united by our shared desire to build a world where people, planet and profit are balanced. Visit cdp.net or follow us @CDP to find out more. The Team Thought Leadership provides the environmental expertise that drives the evolution of CDP’s disclosure system and its impact. The team leads research and analysis of CDP data and other sources to generate insights that inform decisions across business, finance, and policy. Thought Leadership represents CDP in key stakeholder engagements and expert fora, spearheading strategic partnerships and projects, and contributing actively to the development and application of environmental science, standards, and frameworks. The Sustainable Business team delivers CDPs thought leadership relating to the development of corporate and financial sustainable business practices. This involves leading the development of CDP’s approach to sustainable finance, resource management and circular economy, sectors, SMEs and other key business perspectives, and deploying the insights generated by the data to drive impact according to CDPs theory of change. About this role The Nature Engagement Manager will support CDP’s mission to mainstream nature-related sustainability action. The successful candidate will engage internal and external CDP stakeholders to outline best practice approaches to nature-related disclosure and action, including a focus on Landscape and Jurisdictional approaches. This role is tied to CDP’s intention to expand our disclosure universe and corporate reporting to all relevant environmental topics across Nature and resources. Working with the Head of Sustainable Business and Nature teams, the role will focus on capacity building for internal and external CDP stakeholders through preparation of materials, delivery of webinars, and direct engagement with CDP disclosing companies. What you will do • Oversee development of a CDP stakeholder global engagement strategy on Nature. This work will include internal consultation with relevant CDP functions and regions and should include a specific focus on the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions. • Establish a capacity building programme to educate CDP staff and CDP external stakeholders on how to effectively adopt landscape and jurisdictional approaches and broader Nature-related action. • Use CDP data to identify areas to improve disclosure quality against core Nature metrics. • Understand and provide relevant Nature-related disclosure metrics for commercial products including those for supply chain and financial institutions. • Develop and disseminate tools and materials to support strategic targeted engagement • Support CDP account managers engaging corporates and financial institutions on Nature-related topics • Collect ongoing feedback from CDP stakeholders, internal and external, to help strengthen the business case for Nature-related action and to help improve the CDP questionnaire. Actively contribute to an effective and engaged team, clear on its purpose and contribution, by: • Ensuring you know what is expected of you, through regular 1:1’s, having clear objectives in place, and participating in open and honest performance and development conversations • Ensuring a respectful and inclusive workplace, where team members communicate openly, share knowledge so it can be used, and respect difference. • Living the CDP Values and demonstrating the behaviours appropriate to your position. Internal stakeholders include: Sustainable Business, Thought Leadership, Disclosure Content, Customer Success, Sales and Marketing & Comms colleagues dealing with plastics-related activities. External stakeholders include: Corporate disclosers; Supply Chain members and Financial Institutions with an interest in plastics; NGOs, data organisations, and standards bodies with a remit covering plastics and the circular economy. We’re looking for • Demonstrable expertise in demonstrable expertise in nature-related issues, ideally including a focus on landscape and jurisdictional approaches, and how it relates to broader nature-related issues and the climate. • Experience of working to drive environmental change within the private sector – ideally in companies or financial institutions on nature-related topics. • Strong experience of leading the development of operational outcomes program strategies. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to diverse audiences with different levels of understanding. • Proven experience of project management and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. • A high level of self-motivation and drive. • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with teams of individuals and colleagues Before you apply: We’ll only use the information you provide to process your application.
