Job description
We are excited to be working with an Outstanding secondary school in Barnet to recruit an enthusiastic English ECT. This full-time, permanent position starts in April 2026 and is a fantastic opportunity for a high-calibre practitioner to join a successful English department. We are looking for a teacher who can inspire and enthuse students to enjoy literature and language, fostering a desire to achieve their highest potential through a creative and inspirational approach. About the School This school is a fantastic place to work and develop. Known for its high standards and superb facilities, the school offers a professional and scholarly environment where students are a genuine pleasure to work with. The leadership team is supportive and has a dedicated focus on staff wellbeing, including an openness to flexible working requests. The school is heavily oversubscribed and maintains an excellent reputation for academic excellence in the local area. Responsibilities Teach engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4 as a passionate subject specialist. Contribute to the development of consistently outstanding quality of teaching and learning. Work within a successful department of specialist teachers to drive student progress. Use access to technology to enhance the delivery of the English curriculum. Participate in a strong culture of professional development to refine your teaching practice. Qualifications and Experience Degree in English Literature, Language, or a related discipline. PGCE or QTS (pending or achieved). Must have the right to work in the UK. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: £37,868 to £56,154 (Outer London). Full-time, permanent position with a supportive and collaborative team culture. Dedicated SLT member responsible for staff wellbeing. Three-week paid induction available for ECTs in July.
