Media Technician – Creative Secondary School – Bristol Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive salary depending on experience School Information This is an 11–18 Good Ofsted-rated secondary school in Bristol , known for its strong commitment to creativity, innovation, and student engagement. The Role The school is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Media Technician to support the delivery of media and creative technology across the school. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to ensure that equipment, software, and technical resources are maintained and ready for use. They will play an essential role in supporting lessons, projects, and extracurricular activities within the media department. This role would suit someone with a strong interest in media production, film, or digital technology who enjoys working in a creative educational environment. Key Responsibilities Maintaining and preparing media equipment for lessons and projects Supporting teachers and students with filming, editing, and production activities Managing media resources including cameras, lighting equipment, and microphones Ensuring editing software and digital systems are functioning effectively Supporting student coursework projects and practical assessments Assisting with school productions and creative events Managing equipment storage and maintenance schedules Supporting media clubs and extracurricular creative activities Ensuring safe and responsible use of technical equipment Creative Learning Environment The media department is a vibrant and exciting part of the school where students explore storytelling, film production, and digital media. Students regularly produce short films, documentaries, and creative projects that showcase their technical and artistic skills. The Media Technician plays a key role in supporting these projects by ensuring equipment and resources are available and functioning effectively. The department works closely with other creative subjects including performing arts and music, allowing students to collaborate on a variety of creative productions. Person Specification The successful candidate will demonstrate: Strong interest in media production or digital technology Practical experience using cameras, editing software, or media equipment Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Ability to support students in practical learning environments Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to manage equipment responsibly and maintain technical resources Experience working in a media or technical environment would be beneficial.
