Performing Arts Technician – Dynamic Secondary School – Sheffield Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive salary dependent on experience School Information This is a forward-thinking 11–18 secondary school in Sheffield , rated Good by Ofsted , with a strong commitment to providing students with a broad and enriching educational experience. The Role The school is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Performing Arts Technician to support the Drama, Dance and Music departments. This role will involve managing technical equipment, supporting rehearsals and performances, and ensuring that facilities are maintained to a high standard. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting practical lessons, school productions and extracurricular performances. The Performing Arts Technician will work closely with teaching staff to ensure that all technical aspects of productions and lessons run smoothly. This includes preparing equipment, supporting sound and lighting during performances and ensuring that rehearsal spaces are properly organised. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with technical theatre experience who is passionate about supporting creative education and helping students develop their talents in the performing arts. Responsibilities • Support the technical delivery of school productions, performances and events • Set up and operate lighting, sound and staging equipment for performances • Assist teaching staff during practical performing arts lessons • Prepare rehearsal spaces and technical equipment for lessons and productions • Maintain and organise performing arts equipment and resources • Ensure safe use and storage of technical equipment • Support students using technical equipment during rehearsals and productions • Assist with stage management during school productions • Maintain inventories of equipment and coordinate repairs where required • Support extracurricular performing arts activities and events School Environment The Performing Arts department is a vibrant and creative space where students are encouraged to explore performance, develop confidence and work collaboratively.
