Job description

Build your future with FM Conway.

At FM Conway, our Project Managers play a vital role in delivering the infrastructure that keeps communities connected. From restoring iconic bridges to delivering complex highways and structural improvement projects, you'll lead schemes that make a lasting impact across London and the South East.

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our innovative Structures Division, taking a key leadership role within our Capital Projects team. Our team delivers a full range of structural engineering services, combining innovative and sustainable solutions to maintain, restore and improve some of the region's most important infrastructure. From heritage restoration and bridge refurbishments to major capital projects, we have built a reputation for delivering exceptional work on iconic landmark projects including Hammersmith Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, Southwark Bridge, Rochester Bridge, Greenford Flyover and the Marble Arch Still Water Illumination project.

You'll be responsible for planning, managing and delivering structural and highways projects from inception through to completion. Working alongside skilled engineers, commercial teams, clients and subcontractors, you'll oversee every stage of project delivery, from planning and procurement through to construction, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. Whether you're coordinating complex structural refurbishments or leading major infrastructure improvements, you'll finish every project knowing you've made a lasting contribution to the communities and transport networks that people rely on every day.

Grow your career with us

At FM Conway, we're committed to developing our people. As part of our Structures Division, you'll have the opportunity to work on high-profile, technically challenging projects while continuing to develop your leadership skills and broadening your experience across structural engineering, highways and infrastructure.

We invest in ongoing professional development, supporting both internal progression and external training opportunities, giving you the tools to continue building a successful long-term career with us.

It's just one of the many ways we'll invest in your future.

As one of our Project Managers, you will:

  • Leading the planning, management and successful delivery of structural and highways projects from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Collating, coordinating and managing the handover of pre-construction and tender information to delivery teams.
  • Developing and maintaining project budgets, programmes and provide up-to-date financial and programming information throughout each stage of the project lifecycle.
  • Managing and coordinating design development, ensuring solutions are practical, buildable and compliant with project specifications.
  • Ensuring projects are appropriately resourced with plant, labour, materials and specialist subcontractors.
  • Coordinating road space applications, permits and statutory approvals, ensuring all requirements are maintained throughout project delivery.
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, pre-start meetings and contractual documentation alongside the commercial team.
  • Monitoring project performance, ensuring compliance with health and safety, quality, commercial and contractual requirements.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.

What skills and experience do you need?

We're looking for a confident and experienced Project Manager who enjoys leading teams, solving complex challenges and delivering high-quality infrastructure projects. You'll have proven experience managing structures, highways or term maintenance projects, together with strong knowledge of project planning, resource management, commercial controls and stakeholder engagement.

Experience delivering projects under NEC contracts is essential, alongside strong cost and value management and design coordination skills. Having worked on JCT contracts is favourable, however, this is not essential. You'll ideally hold a construction-related qualification and as travel between FM Conway locations will be required, you'll need a full UK driving licence.

Why join FM Conway?

At FM Conway, you're not just joining a company, you're joining a business built around its people.

We invest in our colleagues, celebrate success and provide opportunities to develop new skills and progress your career. Whether you're looking to broaden your experience across major infrastructure projects or take the next step into senior leadership, we'll support you every step of the way.

Alongside a competitive salary, you'll receive:

  • 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Company pension
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare
  • Car allowance
  • Company bonus
  • Enhanced maternity pay
  • Ongoing training and career development
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Internal progression opportunities
  • Shopping discounts through our Rewarding Great People platform
  • Health and wellbeing support, including 24-hour advice lines and access to our Mental Health First Aiders

If you're passionate about delivering exceptional projects and developing your career within a supportive and forward-thinking business, we'd love to hear from you.

Join our family. Build your future. Deliver projects that make a difference.
