Job description

Department:

Legal

We are Walker & Dunlop. We are one of the largest providers of capital to the commercial real estate industry, enabling real estate owners and operators to bring their visions of communities — where people live, work, shop, and play — to life. We are committed to creating meaningful social, environmental, and economic change in our communities.

Department Overview

The Legal department provides support for issues relating to all corporate policies, compliance, risk, contracts, litigation, and more.

The Impact You Will Have

Walker & Dunlop is seeking a talented Compliance Analyst to report directly to the General Counsel, EMEA, supporting the continued growth of our London-based commercial real estate capital markets and property sales business across Europe.

This is a unique opportunity to help develop and implement Walker & Dunlop’s compliance framework across the UK and EU. You will work closely with brokers and advisory teams to manage regulatory risk, support compliant deal execution, and help embed a strong culture of compliance throughout the business.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support compliance with applicable UK and EU regulatory requirements, including AML frameworks, FCA rules, MiFID II, and UK/EU GDPR and privacy laws.
  • Assist with regulatory applications, filings, and ongoing compliance obligations across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct client and related-party due diligence (KYC), including sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening, and support ongoing monitoring of clients and transactions.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters and statutory filings for legal entities.
  • Support the design and delivery of compliance training, awareness initiatives, and internal communications to reinforce regulatory obligations and best practices.
  • Perform regulatory horizon scanning and monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting the business.
  • Document and track compliance issues, breaches, and remediation efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance is generally required from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm local time, Monday through Friday, with the option to work remotely for up to one of those days

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant field such as Law, Finance, Business, or Compliance.
  • 3+ years of compliance experience within commercial real estate finance, capital markets, or the broader financial services industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements in a practical business context.
  • Proficiency in using compliance systems, screening tools, and internal databases to conduct due diligence and monitor regulatory risk.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex regulatory matters to non-legal stakeholders.
  • High standards of integrity, sound judgment, and the confidence to challenge where appropriate.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work.
  • Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK and EU regulatory frameworks, with particular expertise in AML/KYC requirements and related controls.
