Job description
SEN Teacher – Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) (Full-Time | Temp to Permanent)

Location: St Albans
Start Date: November 2026

An ambitious and inclusive primary school in St Albans is looking to appoint an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to lead its thriving Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking school that is committed to inclusive practice and high-quality SEND provision.

The SRP supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and communication needs, providing a calm, structured environment alongside opportunities for pupils to access mainstream lessons where appropriate. The school places a strong emphasis on developing communication, independence, and confidence while ensuring every child feels valued and supported.

The Role

You will lead the day-to-day teaching within the SRP, delivering engaging and personalised learning that enables pupils to make meaningful progress. Working closely with the SENCO and experienced support staff, you'll develop creative learning opportunities that build both academic achievement and essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils in achieving EHCP outcomes through targeted interventions.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and external professionals.
  • Work collaboratively with mainstream staff to support successful inclusion.
  • Track progress and contribute to reviews and assessments.
  • Create a positive and nurturing learning environment where pupils can flourish.

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEND within an SRP, mainstream, or specialist setting.
  • Strong knowledge of autism and communication needs.
  • A collaborative, organised, and child-centred approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

What the School Offers

  • A well-established and well-resourced SRP.
  • Supportive leadership with a strong commitment to SEND.
  • Excellent CPD and opportunities for career development.
  • Competitive pay and the opportunity to secure a permanent contract.
