Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Blackburn
Length of Role: Autumn Term (with a view to continuing based on funding)
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £16.00 per hour

SEND Teaching Assistant Job - Blackburn Primary School

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a primary school setting? We are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Blackburn, supporting pupils within the school's resource provision.

This rewarding role involves working closely with children who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND within the resource provision.
  • Assist with the delivery of individual education plans (IEPs) and targeted interventions.
  • Work on a one-to-one basis and with small groups of pupils.
  • Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, SENDCOs, and support staff.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar.
  • Experience supporting children with additional learning needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within education.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
