Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity in a primary school setting?
We are seeking a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Blackburn, supporting pupils within a specialist SEND classroom. This is a continuous role, subject to ongoing funding approval, offering the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the educational journey of children with additional needs.
This role is ideal for experienced SEND Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Support Workers, Care Assistants, or individuals with relevant experience supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with a range of SEND needs within a specialist classroom environment.
- Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs, and other professionals.
- Support communication, social, emotional, and academic development.
- Encourage independence and positive engagement in learning.
- Assist with behaviour support strategies and personalised learning plans.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND.
- Understanding of additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
