Job description
A highly popular and over-subscribed secondary school in the Taunton area is seeking an ambitious and experienced Head of Design & Technology to lead its successful department from April. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a key middle leadership role within a school known for strong academic outcomes, excellent behaviour, and high community demand. The Role As Head of Design & Technology, you will lead the strategic development of DT across KS3 & KS4, with potential KS5 provision depending on specialism (e.g. Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering). Your responsibilities will include: Shaping and driving the vision for Design & Technology across the school Leading curriculum planning, assessment, and quality assurance Monitoring student progress and implementing strategies to raise attainment Line managing and mentoring departmental staff Overseeing health & safety within workshops and practical environments Promoting enrichment opportunities such as competitions, STEM initiatives, and exhibitions You will maintain a teaching timetable and model high-quality, practical classroom practice.
