Job description
A well-respected 11–18 secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a passionate and reflective Teacher of Religious Education to join its established Humanities faculty. The Role You will teach Religious Education across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to contribute to KS5 depending on experience. Your responsibilities will include: • Planning and delivering engaging, knowledge-rich RE lessons • Teaching core religious and philosophical concepts with clarity and depth • Preparing students effectively for GCSE examination requirements • Using assessment data to inform targeted intervention • Supporting whole-school SMSC and personal development initiatives • Contributing to enrichment activities and discussion forums The curriculum is carefully sequenced and supported by shared schemes of learning, reducing unnecessary workload while maintaining academic rigour. The Department RE sits within a collaborative Humanities faculty alongside History and Geography. The team works closely to ensure consistency in planning, assessment and academic expectations.
