The reception area is the heart of the school’s administrative operations. It serves as the first point of contact for all enquiries and plays a vital role in creating a positive first impression of the school. The successful candidate will be joining a friendly, well-coordinated administration team who work collaboratively to ensure smooth communication, punctual processes and consistent safeguarding practice. The Role: As the Receptionist, you will be the face of the school, greeting visitors, handling calls, managing emails and providing professional and supportive communication throughout the day. You will ensure that all visitors follow safeguarding procedures, including signing in, receiving visitor passes and being directed appropriately. You will also liaise closely with staff across departments, ensuring messages are passed on promptly, appointments are scheduled efficiently and daily operations run smoothly. The role includes general administrative duties such as filing, organising correspondence, updating databases, preparing documents, managing room bookings, distributing post and supporting whole-school events. You will be responsible for maintaining a tidy, welcoming and organised reception space that reflects the high professional standards of the school. Because this is an Independent school with high expectations of communication and professionalism, the role requires someone who can respond calmly and professionally to enquiries while managing multiple tasks at once. You may also be involved in supporting admissions events, parent tours, open evenings, school productions and information evenings. You must be able to handle confidential information, maintain secure safeguarding practices and uphold the values of the school at all times. The ideal candidate will have confidence, warmth and excellent interpersonal skills. You must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully with members of the public, parents, students and staff. The school will provide training in safeguarding, MIS systems and communication procedures.
