The leadership team values Teaching Assistants as essential members of the EYFS team and invests in their training, wellbeing, and professional development. Due to increasing pupil numbers and additional learning needs within Early Years, the school is now seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their team. Role Purpose The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support children aged 3–5 in Nursery and Reception, helping them develop early learning skills, emotional regulation, and positive attitudes to learning. You will work closely with the class teacher and EYFS Lead to support learning through structured activities, free-flow play, and targeted interventions. A key aspect of the role involves supporting children with SEN, speech and language delays, EAL, and social or emotional needs , ensuring that every child can access learning and feel confident in the school environment. Key Responsibilities Support EYFS learning through play-based and structured activities Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils requiring additional help Support children with SEN, including autism, ADHD, and developmental delays Assist with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and early maths activities Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence Support classroom routines such as transitions, snack time, and tidy-up Assist with outdoor learning and physical development activities Observe, record, and contribute to assessments of children’s progress Work collaboratively with teachers, EYFS staff, SENCO, and external professionals Support children with personal care needs in line with safeguarding policies Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health, and safety The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be calm, patient, and passionate about early childhood education. You will understand the importance of consistency, routine, and nurturing relationships in EYFS settings. You should have: Experience working in EYFS, Nursery, or early years environments Knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development Experience or strong interest in supporting SEN and inclusive practice A nurturing, proactive, and flexible approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Resilience and adaptability in a busy classroom setting Training and Career Development The school offers structured induction and ongoing CPD, including: EYFS pedagogy and curriculum development SEN and inclusive education strategies Behaviour support and emotional wellbeing Safeguarding and child protection training There are clear pathways into SEN TA roles, HLTA positions, and teacher training for committed staff.
