Job description
PE ECT – Secondary School – Slough – September 2025 An exciting and full-time opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated PE ECT to join a thriving and forward-thinking secondary school in Slough from September 2025. This role is ideal for a trainee teacher seeking a warm, supportive environment to begin their teaching career while contributing to a well-established PE department. PE ECT Slough Full-time, permanent September 2025 Start Suitable for ECTs School Information This Ofsted Good school educates a diverse cohort of pupils aged 11–18 and is recognised for its commitment to academic success, strong pastoral structures, and the central role it places on physical education and student wellbeing. The school has an excellent reputation for providing ECTs with a structured and nurturing induction programme, ensuring they feel confident, supported, and equipped to progress rapidly in their teaching practice. The PE department is dynamic, collaborative, and well-resourced. Facilities include: • A full sports hall • Modern fitness suite • Outdoor netball and basketball courts • Extensive playing fields • All-weather multi-use games area (MUGA) • Access to local sporting venues for competitions and tournaments The team delivers a rich curriculum across KS3–KS4 and supports exam PE at GCSE level. They also run a wide range of extracurricular clubs and competitive teams, encouraging student participation, resilience, and sportsmanship. As an Early Career Teacher, you will benefit from: • A reduced timetable during your induction year • Weekly mentor meetings and structured feedback • Opportunities to observe experienced colleagues • Tailored CPD focusing on behaviour management, lesson planning, and assessment • Access to a supportive Head of PE who has a strong record of developing early career teachers Experience & Qualifications The successful PE ECT will have: • A degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field • PGCE with QTS (or completing training in 2025) • Strong practical knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging PE lessons across a variety of sports • Good understanding of the PE curriculum at KS3–KS4 • Willingness to take an active role in extracurricular sport and school events • Strong communication skills and a passion for developing student confidence, health, and resilience • A positive, energetic approach with excellent organisational skills Salary Paid on M1 of the ECT salary scale.
