Job descriptionWe are seeking a passionate, experienced, and motivated Year 5 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Reading, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who enjoys upper Key Stage 2 and is committed to helping pupils reach their full potential academically and personally. As a Year 5 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across the curriculum, while supporting pupils’ personal, social, and emotional development. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Year 5 curriculum Assess, track, and monitor pupil progress Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEN Promote positive behaviour and high expectations Maintain a well-organised, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment Work closely with teaching assistants and colleagues Communicate effectively with parents and carers Contribute to staff meetings, planning, and school events Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) Have recent experience teaching upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5 Be enthusiastic, organised, and reflective in practice Have strong classroom management and communication skills Be a positive team player Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing The school is located in Reading, with excellent transport links and a supportive, collaborative working environment.
