Job description
A supportive and forward-thinking 11–18 secondary school in Rugby is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of French , suitable for an Early Career Teacher, to join its established Modern Foreign Languages department. This is an excellent opportunity for an ECT who wants to build confidence, develop strong classroom practice and teach languages in a school that values consistency, clarity and high-quality teaching. The Role You will teach French across Key Stages 3 and 4 , delivering lessons that focus on building confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing. The curriculum is well structured and carefully sequenced, helping students develop secure foundations while progressing steadily towards GCSE success. Lessons emphasise: Clear modelling and structured practice Regular retrieval of vocabulary and grammar Confidence in spoken language Consistent routines to support behaviour and engagement As an ECT, you’ll benefit from shared planning and established resources, allowing you to focus on refining delivery and classroom management rather than creating everything from scratch. ECT Support & Induction The school has a strong reputation for supporting early career teachers and offers: A dedicated MFL mentor with regular one-to-one support Reduced teaching timetable during your induction period Joint planning and shared assessments within the department Opportunities to observe experienced language teachers CPD focused on behaviour, assessment and language pedagogy Support is structured, practical and designed to help you grow in confidence and skill over time. The MFL Department The Modern Foreign Languages department is collaborative and welcoming, with a shared approach to planning and assessment. Teachers support one another closely, and new colleagues are fully integrated into the team. The department promotes cultural awareness and confidence in communication, and enrichment activities are carefully planned and manageable.
