Head of Design & Technology - Ealing, West London 🛠️ Lead Innovation: Head of Design & Technology Opportunity in Ealing! We are seeking an ambitious, strategic, and highly creative Head of Design & Technology (D&T) to lead a dynamic and well-resourced department at a successful secondary school located in the large borough of Ealing , West London. This is a pivotal leadership role for an experienced educator committed to driving practical skills, creativity, and academic success across all D&T disciplines within the Outer London pay zone. About the School: Practical Excellence and Community Our client is a well-regarded co-educational comprehensive school known for its strong focus on practical skills and its dedication to providing diverse pathways for student success. The school has invested in its D&T facilities, which are utilized for a broad curriculum including Product Design and Food Technology. The D&T department plays a key role in promoting STEM and creative subjects, fostering strong links between classroom concepts and real-world application. Key Responsibilities & Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be an exceptional teacher and academic leader with a degree in Design & Technology, Engineering, or a related field , holding QTS , and possessing a proven track record of successful departmental leadership in a secondary school environment. As Head of D&T, you will be expected to: Strategic Vision: Develop and implement an inspiring vision for the D&T curriculum, overseeing delivery from KS3 through to GCSE and A-Level (or equivalent vocational courses). Team Leadership: Effectively lead, mentor, and performance-manage the D&T teachers and technicians, fostering a highly collaborative and innovative departmental culture. Curriculum & Attainment: Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of all D&T specialisms (e.g., Resistant Materials, Product Design), ensuring outstanding student outcomes and strong examination results. Resource & Safety: Manage the departmental budget efficiently, secure new equipment, and ensure strict adherence to all Health and Safety regulations (including machinery and workshop protocols) at all times. Remuneration & Next Steps This senior leadership role offers a competitive salary package reflective of its significance and the Outer London location.
