Job description
A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Wakefield is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join its thriving English department. This is a full-time role, available for an immediate start, and is suitable for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to develop within a supportive and stimulating environment. The Role The successful candidate will deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential Key Stage 5 involvement depending on experience. Responsibilities include: Planning and delivering lessons in literature, language, and creative writing, ensuring students develop analytical and communication skills. Preparing students effectively for GCSE assessments and examinations. Providing timely and constructive feedback on students’ progress. Contributing to curriculum development and resource creation within the department. Supporting extracurricular activities such as school productions, reading clubs, or competitions. Maintaining high standards of behaviour and fostering a positive learning environment. Candidate Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature. Excellent classroom management and organisational skills. Ability to inspire students of all abilities to reach their full potential.
