Job description
School Business Manager - Hackney, North London 💼 We're looking for an experienced and strategic School Business Manager to join a progressive secondary school in Hackney. This is a critical senior leadership role for a professional who can effectively manage the school's non-teaching functions, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the entire institution. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a proven track record in financial and operational management. The Role As the School Business Manager, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for all aspects of the school's business and administrative functions. You will ensure the school's resources are managed effectively to support its educational goals. Your responsibilities will include: Financial Management: Overseeing all school finances, including budget setting, financial planning, and reporting to the governing body and external stakeholders. Human Resources: Managing HR functions for non-teaching staff, including recruitment, payroll, and performance management. Facilities and Estates: Overseeing the management of the school's premises, including maintenance, health and safety, and capital projects. Administration: Leading the administrative team and ensuring all school systems and processes are efficient and compliant. Strategic Planning: Contributing to the school's overall strategic direction, providing expert advice on financial and operational matters. You will need to have a strong working knowledge of school-specific financial and administrative systems, as well as an understanding of the educational landscape. Candidate Requirements To be considered for this vital role, you should have: Proven experience in a senior financial or business management role, preferably within a school or the public sector. Relevant professional qualifications, such as a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, and/or a CSBM (Certificate in School Business Management) or DSBM (Diploma in School Business Management) . Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team. A strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and risk management. The ability to think strategically and make sound business decisions that support the school's educational vision. Salary & Application The salary for this position is competitive and will be paid at a senior leadership level (Inner London pay scale), commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
