Job description
Are you an experienced and passionate educator ready to make a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs? We are seeking a SENCO to join our supportive and inclusive school in Croydon, starting in September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers an excellent opportunity to lead and enhance our special education provision. SENCO Role 📅 Start Date: September 2025 📍 Location: Croydon ⏳ Working Hours: Full-Time 📄 Contract Type: Permanent The School Our vibrant primary school in Croydon is committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment for all learners. We prioritize the academic and personal growth of every student and aim to create a culture of support and understanding for children with special educational needs. Our leadership team is dedicated to providing ongoing professional development and collaboration among staff to ensure the best outcomes for all students. SENCO Responsibilities Lead and manage the school's special educational needs provision, ensuring all students receive the support they need to thrive. Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement effective Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs. Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted interventions and support to promote achievement. Offer guidance and support to staff in differentiating their teaching and adapting the curriculum to meet diverse learning needs. Maintain strong communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on progress and involving them in the support process. Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and legislation regarding special educational needs and disability (SEND). Lead training and professional development opportunities for staff related to SEND best practices. Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to provide additional support for students as needed. SENCO Requirements ✔ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. ✔ Experience working with students with special educational needs and a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice. ✔ Previous experience in a SENCO role or equivalent leadership position is highly desirable. ✔ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. ✔ Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. ✔ A commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
