Job description
Location: Brent, North West London Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only Start Date: Next Term Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience An inclusive and forward-thinking primary school in the London Borough of Brent is seeking a committed EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in Nursery and Reception. About the School The school serves a diverse and vibrant local community and is proud of its inclusive ethos. Early identification and intervention for SEN is a key priority, and the school has established strong systems to support pupils with additional needs. The Early Years setting is structured, nurturing, and focused on building strong foundations for learning and wellbeing. Staff benefit from a positive working environment, supportive leadership, and access to ongoing professional development. The Role You will provide targeted support to children with a range of needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, and social, emotional and mental health challenges. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. Your role will help children to: Engage with learning and play Develop communication and social skills Manage emotions and behaviour Develop independence and confidence Key Responsibilities Deliver personalised SEN support in line with EHCPs Support access to the EYFS curriculum Implement strategies advised by the SENCo and external professionals Use visual aids, routines, and sensory resources Encourage positive behaviour and inclusion Support with personal care and hygiene when necessary Observe, record, and report on progress Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures Person Specification We are looking for someone who: Has experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in EYFS Is calm, patient, and compassionate Has strong communication and teamwork skills Is committed to inclusion and safeguarding Is eager to develop professionally What the School Can Offer A supportive and inclusive school environment Excellent SEN and EYFS training opportunities Clear guidance and mentoring A positive, child-centred culture Valuable experience for a long-term career in education This role is ideal for someone dedicated to supporting young children with additional needs at the start of their educational journey.
