Job description
A welcoming and high-achieving 11–18 secondary school in Nottingham is seeking a motivated and reflective Teacher of English (ECT) to join its thriving English department from January 2026 . The school, rated Good by Ofsted, is known for its calm learning environment, strong academic progress and exceptional pastoral care. English is one of the school’s strongest subjects, combining traditional literary study with a forward-thinking approach to reading and writing. The Opportunity This is an ideal first post for an Early Career Teacher. You’ll teach English across KS3–KS4, supported by a clear induction structure, regular mentor meetings, and access to collaborative departmental planning. Lessons emphasise student voice, creativity and analytical thinking. Support for ECTs A reduced timetable and dedicated subject mentor. Weekly professional development sessions. Access to local English networks and CPD. Constructive, feedback-based coaching. The School Students are polite, motivated and respectful, and behaviour is managed consistently by senior leaders.
