Job description
Job Title: English Teacher Location: Enfield Start Date: ASAP Nature: Full-Time/Permanent Inspire a love of language and literature in a supportive and ambitious learning environment. A welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in Enfield is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their successful department. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a school that values high standards, creativity, and student-centred learning. About the Role The English Teacher will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable), fostering strong literacy skills and a genuine appreciation for English Language and Literature. Working closely with the Head of Department and wider teaching team, you will contribute to curriculum development, enrichment opportunities and whole-school literacy initiatives, ensuring students achieve their full academic potential. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that engage and challenge students of all abilities Teach English Language and Literature across KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable) Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations and assessment objectives Differentiate learning to support SEND, EAL and high-attaining pupils Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and inform teaching Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement in line with school policy Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental meetings and moderation processes Support extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, theatre visits or creative writing initiatives Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress Uphold safeguarding, equality and school policies at all times The Ideal Candidate Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies Ability to motivate, challenge and inspire learners Skilled in using assessment data to raise attainment Strong communication and organisational skills Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Legal right to work in the UK About the School in Enfield The school in Enfield is proud of its inclusive and supportive ethos, with a strong focus on academic progress and personal development.
