Do you want to lead operations in a thriving school with a high-performing Business & Operations team? School Business Manager Full time | Permanent January 2026 start Highly successful Operations & Support Services department A large, high-performing secondary school in Oxford is seeking to appoint a School Business Manager from January 2026 . The school is looking for a strategic, motivated professional to oversee finance, HR, compliance, and site operations in an established support team. Applications are welcomed from experienced SBMs, Finance Managers, Operations Managers, or professionals stepping up from an Assistant/Deputy SBM post. School Information This mixed comprehensive secondary school, rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, educates over 1,600 students aged 11–18 . It is well-known across Oxfordshire for exceptional academic outcomes, high-quality facilities, and a deeply supportive culture. The school is located close to major bus routes and Oxford Parkway links, providing excellent access for staff commuting from across Oxfordshire and neighbouring counties. The Operations and Support Services department is central to the school’s success. It includes a well-structured team covering finance, HR, data, premises, and administration. The appointed SBM will join a highly collaborative senior leadership team that values innovation, professional growth, and efficient operational management. Facilities include a modern sports complex, new sixth-form centre, upgraded IT infrastructure, and high-quality teaching spaces. The school continues to grow, and long-term financial planning, estates development, and risk management are key priorities. A strong focus on community enrichment is embedded within the school ethos. Partnerships include local universities, businesses, and community organisations. Experience and Qualifications Prior experience as a School Business Manager , Finance Manager , or similar leadership role within education Professional qualification desirable (CIPFA, AAT, ACCA, School Business Management qualification, or equivalent) Strong financial management and budgeting experience Ability to lead HR, operations, compliance, procurement, and estates functions Excellent communication, organisational, and people-management skills Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining high standards of compliance Salary Salary for this School Business Manager role will be paid to scale on a direct permanent contract , dependent on experience and qualifications.
