Job description
Location: Perivale, Ealing, West London Position: EYFS Teaching Assistant Contract Type: Full-Time | Term-Time Only Start Date: ASAP / Next Academic Term Salary: Competitive School Overview Situated in Perivale , this primary school prides itself on its nurturing, inclusive, and child-centred Early Years provision. The school serves a multicultural community with a diverse mix of EAL learners and children requiring SEN support. Role Purpose The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support children aged 3–5 across Nursery and Reception classes, working closely with the EYFS lead and class teachers. This role involves supporting both the learning and emotional development of all pupils, with a particular focus on SEN and EAL learners. Responsibilities include facilitating play-based and structured learning, supporting small-group interventions, and fostering a positive, nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities Assist in delivering EYFS curriculum activities, including phonics, early literacy, numeracy, and creative play Provide one-to-one and small group support for children with SEN or EAL needs Encourage independence, social skills, positive behaviour, and emotional regulation Support classroom routines, transitions, snack times, and outdoor play activities Observe, assess, and record pupil progress in line with EYFS learning goals Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, external specialists, and parents to ensure consistent support Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety standards at all times Support children’s emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning The Ideal Candidate The school is seeking a caring, patient, and adaptable EYFS Teaching Assistant who: Has experience or interest in early years or EYFS settings Understands child development and the EYFS framework Is confident supporting SEN, EAL, and diverse learners Maintains a calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to children Demonstrates excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills Can adapt to the dynamic and multicultural environment of an early years classroom Training and Development EYFS induction and ongoing CPD opportunities SEN and inclusion training, including autism awareness and EAL support Behaviour management and emotional wellbeing strategies Safeguarding and child protection updates What the School Offers Supportive and experienced EYFS leadership and teaching team Inclusive, child-centred ethos focused on development and wellbeing Well-resourced classrooms and stimulating outdoor learning areas Opportunities for professional development, CPD, and career progression A highly rewarding role where you can make a real impact on children’s early education Safeguarding All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.
